Global Service Corps:
Global Service Corps offers an overseas service experience with optional college credit and the chance to use your education award for program fees, airfare, and related expenses.Whether serving in Tanzania, Cambodia, or Thailand. AmeriCorps alumni can stay involved in issues that are important to them while they make a positive impact on global communities. Global Service Corps community development projects focus on the areas of health, education, and nutrition. Programs are offered throughout the year and range in length from as short as two weeks, to more intensive internships lasting six months or longer. College credits are also available for all programs, though it is not required to earn credit to use the education award.
World Teach
As a WorldTeach volunteer,you will be placed in a developing country to teach in public schools. Programs vary from summer, semester-long, and year-long options. A bachelor’s degree and fluency in English are required, but teaching experience or foreign language experience are not. Some of the programs cost money for participation, but some are free and funded by the host country.
World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms is a great opportunity to travel and volunteer on different organic farms. Volunteers usually live with your host and are expected to join in and cooperate with the day to day activities. In most countries the exchange is based on 4-6 hours help-fair exchange for a full day’s food and accommodation. You may be asked to help with a variety of tasks like sowing seed, making compost, gardening, planting, cutting wood, weeding, harvesting, packing, milking, feeding, fencing, making mud-bricks, wine making, cheese making and bread making.
Teaching English Overseas
There are several options to teach English overseas. Some programs require a fee to participate in the program, but most pay their teachers. Salaries vary based on country and program. Some programs even pay for your housing, in addition to a salary. Most programs don’t require teaching experience, but some require a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate beforehand. Some include the training and pay for your certification beforehand. It will just take more research from your end. A few good organizations are: Language Corps, Teach Away,
AuPair Abroad
Like caring for children and want to live overseas? Many countries have AuPair programs where you live with a family and help take care of their children, in exchange for room, board, and a small stipend. Hours and length of stay usually depend on your host family’s needs. Most programs don’t cover the cost of a visa or airfare.
WOOFING
You can search the Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms website and check out volunteer opportunities on different organic farms. Most volunteers work for food and a place to stay, but some may get a small stipend too. The length of your stay at the farm is negotiated directly between you and your host. Most WWOOF visits are between one and two weeks, though some may be as short as two or three days or as long as six months. Learn more here.

Interested in sustainability, marine biology, and sailing? In this program, participants spend a semester living on a ship. You will learn how to sail, conduct cool experiments, and take classes. Learn more here.
